Pickin’ Up Tennessee Team Tours

On Wednesday June 5, 2013 it was a Great Day for Lawrenceburg as Pickin’ Up Tennessee
Team Tours with Community Leaders met with County Executive J. Mack Chandler.
According to Susan W. Sizemore, Pickin’ Up Tennessee and Marge Davis, President of Scenic Tennessee, Lawrenceburg was one of nearly 40 regional stops across Tennessee. Pickin’ Up Tennessee is a project initiated by the non-profit organization Scenic Tennessee.
The effort combines music, scenic photography and community litter cleanups into online videos and social media networking to build awareness about the problems of litter in our state.
The launch initiative to support the effort began on June 1 with a month-long, cross-state Pickin’ Up Tennessee tour (approximately 2,000 miles) designed to drive home the campaign’s powerful message: Love the land. Lose the litter.
Also while in Lawrenceburg, the team met with Curtis Peters, president, Lawrence County Historical Society. Peters, as curator of the Old Jail Museum, offered the group an impromptu tour of the Old Jail Museum.

“We were thrilled to have such a wonderful team filming in our County” said Chandler. “This just goes along with our clean-up efforts that have been underway in our County for some time now.
We have such a beautiful County and with our clean-up project and the awareness brought about by the Pickin’ Up Tennessee team it will only enhance the beauty.”
